Loveyourself Advocacy

We do not want to frighten our fellow MSMs (Men having sex with Men). In this modern world, early detection of the infection will definitely help the infected ones survive and live normal lives. And we can only do such detection through HIV testing. However, not all MSMs are aware of this cause. RITM, the research arm of the Department of Health, and the Love Yourself, a young advocacy group for LGBT-MSMs, are having collaborative efforts to develop effective and efficient programs in reaching our fellow MSMs.

"We'll be holding a private, discreet, and confidential (and free) counseling and screening for HIV, Syphilis, and Hepa B on July 22, 2012, at Victoria Court, Malate. For your readers, I can offer free first shot vaccines for Hepatitis B. :)"

  1. I was once a hepa b positive 4 years ago. 3 months after my exposure to the virus the signs and symptoms started to appear and it made me sick like for at least 2 weeks. I recovered though but the memory was really depressing and painful. I wish many men out there would dare to be tested for their own good. Prevention is better than cure but only a test can determine whether you already have acquired the virus. 1 year after i was diagnosed with hepa b i was hospitalized with different illness but just minor thankfully, my diagnostics stated that i am hvb negative already. My body might somehow made me strong and created natural immunity on the hbv. Its been 3 years since my doctor told me that i am already negaive but since then i never had check ups or blood tests and thankfully i fell fine, normal and my color remains pinkish white after it turned yellowish during the illness. I know somehow my immune system made natural immunity but i don't know if i can infect other people like being a silent carrier. I hope not.
I hope my story somehow opened the eyes of young bisexuals out there who would like to take the courage to be tested and if otherwise fight to stop the spread of these deadly viruses. We need to be more educated about these viruses and we need to be more aware and responsible in every action we take.

  2. Are you sure it was hepatitis b? Because hepatitis b and c can't be cured. Its a lifetime disease like aids. But you can control the spread. Unlike hepatitis b and c, hepatitis a and d can be cured because its mode of transmission is oro-fecal, unlike hep b, blood, sex, needle stick and sharing of needles (tattoo)...

    1. Yup i am sure it was b, i saw the test results my own eyes but i never saw the 2nd result when my doctor told me im negative. My nurse then asked me actually how i got rid off the virus i told her i dont know. I just followed my doctor's instruction about what to eat and what to do. Fortunately the news was great and until now i dont see any bad changes on my body or my feelings. But i take that as an advice to check my blood again. Although i dont feel anything wrong at all sometimes im still worried about my health coz the experience of it was very aweful and i dont want to experience it again. By the way my urine is crystal clear, my skin and sclera is white,i dont feel that pain in diagphram again, i mean i dont feel any signs and symptoms for 3 years now. But im worried, i might be a silent carrier. Would that be possible?

    2. Probably... Try to go to an another doctor for second opinion... And try to read books about hepatitis that would help you. Good luck!!!
